In an interview discussed in the National Catholic Reporter, Cornell West is quoted as follows: “We are witnessing the collapse and implosion of the American empire in real time. The cause is organized greed and weaponized hatred.”

“Organized greed,” “weaponized hatred,” that is the Trump Administration facilitated by demonic forces set loose in America. One might object that I am being melodramatic in seeing demonic influences at work in what might be called simply a political change. But I think it is wise to call a spade a spade. The collapse of America is due to an omni-pervasive corruption: MAGA, the 50% who voted for Trump, the Republican Party, Trump and his toadies; the corruption is vast and still spreading. The seeds of this corruption have always been present in a polity that deifies greed; they needed only the manure of Trumpism to make them bloom.
