Observers and co-workers are struggling to describe the relationship between Donald Trump and Natalie Harp. Ms Harp is many things to Trump; she fulfills a spectrum of needs. But if we are to posit a single job description for her, she is a nanny caring for a special-needs child. She helps conceal his incontinence and work around other ailments, the most obvious of which is his pitiful lack of self-esteem. This may seem paradoxical, for Trump is well known as a monument to megalomania. But this sometimes comic megalomania is his way of coping with the self-contempt that was instilled into him by his father and that he constantly renews.
